Katie Smrcka-Duffy was one of the most competitive athletes ever to come out of the Northern Region. If her play didn't show it, her mouth certainly did. Smrcka-Duffy was often the subject of media scrutiny even as just a junior and senior at Madison High School.

Mike Wallace won't give himself the credit he deserves. Like most professional baseball players, Wallace believes in a lot of luck and fortune. He believes that luck carried him and the Warhawks to the first Virginia High School League sponsored state championship in 1968 and luck helped Woodrow Wilson rip the title from him in 1969.

Katie Ruckert was simply dominant. A 2001 graduate of Madison High school, Ruckert sits in a first place tie for the most AAA state tennis titles in a career in Virginia High School League history.

The Madison High girls' softball team saw its season end in disappointing fashion with a pair of postseason losses. Nevertheless, it was an overall successful and winning campaign for head coach John Schneeberger's Warhawks.

Madison Girls Beat Lee on PK’s to Advance to Regional Semifinals

Warhawks set to meet W.T. Woodson in round of four soccer matchup.

Last Thursday, May 24 , under ominous skies at Lee High School in Springfield, the Madison Warhawks and Lee Lancers girls’ soccer teams squared off in a hard-fought Northern Regional quarterfinals playoff match that saw four overtime periods before eventually being decided on penalty kicks. Both teams played valiantly for over 100 minutes as Madison ultimately prevailed by a score of 3-3, 3-1 on penalty kicks.
