Langley Lacrosse Snaps Madison Girls' Unbeaten Streak

Saxons win riveting Liberty District contest, 13-11.

The Langley High varsity lacrosse team defeated the reigning Virginia State champion Madison Warhawks on their home turf in Vienna, 13-11, in a Liberty District showdown last Friday night between two of the state's top-ranked girls programs.

Saxons' Softball Enters Spring Break With Winning Mark

Langley shuts down South Lakes for Liberty win; In girls' lacrosse, Saxons, Highlanders meet in early season cross-town match.

Going into this week's spring break, the Langley High girls' softball team, under head coach Jessica Roche, had put together a winning record at 3-2. The Saxons, in a high-scoring road game last Thursday, March 29 versus Liberty District opponent Stone Bridge High in Ashburn, lost to the Bulldogs 11-7. Langley opened the game's scoring in the top of the first inning with two runs, the highlight being a two-run double off the bat of senior third baseman Julia Weeks. However, the home team Bulldogs, an inning later, answered with three runs in the second and four more in the third to build a 7-2 lead.

Langley Softball Wins Opener Over Robinson

Saxons knock out three home runs.

The Langley High girls’ varsity softball team started their 2012 spring season with a home game versus the Robinson Secondary Rams on March 16. The Saxons had a strong game at the plate on way to a 16-4 victory.

Bryant Fultz wasn’t among the top performers in the dunk contest during the Northern Region Coaches Association All-Star Boys’ Basketball festivities on March 17, but the West Potomac senior made his mark during the main event.

West Potomac's Bryant Fultz threw down a fourth-quarter alley-oop dunk from fellow Wolverine Randall Brobbey, scored a team-high 15 points and earned game MVP honors as the Concorde/Patriot All-Stars defeated the Liberty/National team 109-108 in overtime at Wakefield High School.

Langley, McLean Enjoy Successful Ice Hockey Seasons

Local high school rival teams face off in postseason quarterfinals.

Kevin Diner scored twice and Evan Sterling had a goal and three assists as Langley High School posted a 6-1 upset win over McLean in the recent quarterfinal round game of the Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League (NVSHL) playoffs at SkateQuest Reston.

District Wrestling Championships Set for This Weekend

Langley, unbeaten during district regular season, will be aiming for a postseason banner.

The Langley High wrestling team is set to begin the postseason portion of its schedule this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3-4, when it hosts the Liberty District Championships meet. The two-day event will begin Friday evening at 5. On Saturday, action will start up again at noon time and run throughout the day.
