The semifinals rounds of both the girls’ and boys’ Patriot District lacrosse tournaments were scheduled to take place earlier this week at Lee High School in Springfield.

The Westfield High girls’ softball team, over the final few weeks of the regular season, will be looking to get back into the winning mode that was such a prominent characteristic of its season through mid-April.

Chantilly Boys Break Into Soccer Win Column
Chargers get victories over Westfield and Mount Vernon.
The Chantilly High boys’ soccer team, following a 0-8 start to the season, won consecutive games last week. The Chargers, in a Concorde District outing at Westfield High last Thursday, April 26, defeated the Bulldogs, 4-0, for their first win of the season. And earlier this week on Monday, April 30, Chantilly, in overtime, won a non-district home game over Mount Vernon, 4-3.

The Centreville High varsity baseball team will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Washington, D.C. chapter of Operation Homefront during its home game on Tuesday, May 8 against Concorde District rival Oakton.

It has been a season of streaks for the Robinson Rams boys' lacrosse team, which has won or lost this spring in bunches. But the Concorde District squad has been playing a good brand of lacrosse of late and appears to be at a good place with the postseason set to begin this Friday night with the start of the six-team district tournament.

Day Determined to Build a Football Winner at Herndon
New Hornets' head coach wants team to be physically tough.
After being a part of two Northern Regional football titles, two state championships and six district crowns while serving as an assistant coach over the years at Concorde District high schools Westfield and Centreville, Brian Day, this past January, accepted the position as new head football coach at fellow Concorde rival Herndon High.

Oakton Ready for Another Big Postseason

The Oakton High girls' lacrosse team, along with being talented and experienced, is also playing at a high level at the right time of the spring season with the start of the postseason set to begin this Friday night with opening round games of the six-team Concorde District tournament.

This week the undefeated McLean High boys' tennis team, under head coach Aavo Tomkov, had a challenging slate of competition versus Liberty District opponents. The Highlanders (8-0), earlier in the week on Tuesday, April 24, were scheduled to travel to cross-town and Liberty District rival Langley High (7-1).

Oakton Baseball Trying to Regain its Footing
Since 6-1 start, Cougars have struggled in Concorde District play.
A tough stretch of the season has hit the Oakton High baseball team since the start up of play within the Concorde District schedule a few weeks ago. The Cougars, who were 6-1 at one point this spring, entered this week in the midst of a tough five-game losing streak.

Wildcat Classic golf event set for April 30.
General Dynamics and the Wildcat golf team invite the community to the 8th Annual Wildcat Classic on Monday, April 30 at 1:30 p.m. at Westfields Golf Club in Clifton. The registration fee for this year’s event is $400 per foursome and $100 per individual. Registration includes greens fees, cart, range balls, on-course challenges, a tournament goodie bag, and admission to the awards reception and tournament banquet.

In Baseball, Concorde District Title is up for Grabs
No clear cut favorite as the six teams gear up for final month of regular season.
Back and refreshed from spring break week, the local high school baseball teams opened up the Concorde District portion of their schedules last week. For the final month of the regular season, the six Concorde teams, including Centre View area schools Centreville, Chantilly, and Westfield, will go head to head to determine regular season final standings and seedings for the postseason district tournament set to begin May 15.
College Recruiting Seminar to be Held at Robinson Secondary

A seminar to prepare parents and athletes for the college recruiting road ahead - complete with all its bumps - will be held on Monday night, May 7 at 7:30 in Russell Theater at Robinson Secondary School.

Rams Reach .500 Mark in Baseball
Robinson gets Concorde wins over Oakton and Westfield.
The Robinson Secondary baseball team reached the .500 record mark this past Tuesday night, April 17 when the Rams defeated host Oakton, 6-4, in a Concorde District game played in the Vienna area. It was the second district win in a row for Robinson, which had also won a road game at Westfield High, 3-1, last Friday night, April 13.
