Chantilly's Gembarowicz Tosses Softball Perfect Game

Charger pitcher fans 19 in spring break tournament win.

The Chantilly High girls' softball team received perhaps the best pitching outing by a Northern Region player thus far this season when senior Emily Gembarowicz, during the Chargers' spring break trip to Myrtle Beach last week, tossed a perfect game, no-hitter in her team's 6-0 win over Jamestown High (N.Y) on the morning of April 3.

Basketball’s Capital Classic Showcase Set for April 21

The 39th Annual Capital Classic high school basketball event, set to take place on Saturday, April 21, will consist of a full day of All Star hoops games at T.C. Williams High in Alexandria.

In Chantilly High boys’ soccer action last week, the Chargers, in a non-district game played at Lake Braddock Secondary, lost a close 3-2 contest to the Bruins.

Chantilly Boys' Soccer Ties Broad Run

Chargers home versus South County this Friday night.

The Chantilly High boys’ soccer team opened the spring season with a pair of home games last week – a 1-1 tie versus non-Northern Region opponent Broad Run (Dulles District) on Tuesday, March 13, and a tough 1-0 loss to region opponent Thomas Jefferson High on Thursday, March 15. In the deadlock versus the Spartans from Broad Run (Ashburn), Chantilly’s Billy Germain scored on a header shot off a crossing pass from teammate Mannaan Umar.

Northern Region’s top seniors boys’ high school players, including Westfield’s Quentin Basil, compete in All-Star game, festivities.

Bryant Fultz wasn’t among the top performers in the dunk contest during the Northern Region Coaches Association All-Star Boys’ Basketball festivities on March 17, but the West Potomac senior made his mark during the main event.

West Potomac's Bryant Fultz threw down a fourth-quarter alley-oop dunk from fellow Wolverine Randall Brobbey, scored a team-high 15 points and earned game MVP honors as the Concorde/Patriot All-Stars defeated the Liberty/National team 109-108 in overtime at Wakefield High School.

Jim Smith, head coach of the Chantilly High boys’ basketball team, recently reached a milestone in his coaching career as he won his 400th game.

Local Swimmers Step Up at Region Championships

Chantilly boys earn sixth place team finish; Westfield and Chantilly girls finish among top 10 teams.

Top Centre View-area individual girls’ finishers included: Chantilly’s Logan Coulson-Moore (third place in 100-back, fourth in 200-free); Westfield’s Carli Molano (second in 50-free); and Chantilly’s Maggie Shaw (7th in 500-free).

Westfield Captures Concorde Wrestling Title

Bulldogs take first ahead of defending Northern Region champion Robinson.

The Westfield High wrestling team put together a dominant showing at last weekend’s Concorde District Championships, held Friday and Saturday (Feb. 3-4) at Chantilly High School. The Bulldogs, behind seven individual champions, scored 207 points, well ahead of runner-up Robinson’s 165, to capture the district crown.

Chantilly Girls Holding Their Own in Concorde Play

Chargers working to get best possible seeding for upcoming district basketball tournament.

Just like every other opponent of the powerhouse Oakton High girls’ basketball team this season, the Chantilly High squad realized it had a huge task in playing the unbeaten Cougars earlier this week in Concorde District action. Chantilly gave visiting Oakton a good showing but lost, 55-35, in the contest played this past Tuesday night. Oakton, the Northern Region champions in two of the past three years, improved to 19-0 overall and 7-0 in the district. Chantilly, with the loss, left the floor with an 11-8 overall mark and a 3-4 record in district play.

District Indoor Track and Field Championships Underway

Chantilly, Centreville, and Westfield all set for second day Concorde action on Thursday.

The Concorde District Indoor Track and Field Championships got underway last Thursday, Jan. 26 with Day One action at the Prince George’s County Sportsplex in Maryland. Local teams Centreville, Westfield, and Chantilly High Schools made up three of the six participating schools at the postseason event.
